The <strong>beautiful pedestrian street<\/strong> with many shops and cafes is named after Umberto I di Savoia, King of Italy from 1878 to 1900, and stretches from the north to the south of the town from <strong>Porta Messina<\/strong> to <strong>Porta Catania<\/strong>. The gate was called Porta Ferdinandea (now Porta Messina) until 1860, after King Ferdinand I, and Porta del Tocco (\u201ccontact gate\u201d, now Porta Catania) as adjacent to the homonymous square, where the town meetings were held, announced by the ringing of bells.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-96803aa elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default qodef-elementor-content-no\" data-id=\"96803aa\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-6303b32\" data-id=\"6303b32\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-92c66ac elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"92c66ac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\"><p>The center of the town and its nightlife is <strong>Piazza IX Aprile<\/strong> (9<sup>th<\/sup> April Square), from which you can admire a <strong>fascinating panorama<\/strong>. The Torre dell\u2019Orologio (Clock Tower), situated on the square, was part of the walls that once delineated the border of the medieval village.
